If you wish your jawline had more definition but diet and exercise haven’t worked, you have some options. Jawline contouring is an effective way to achieve a sharper look with long-term results. Here’s what to know about it and how Skin Refine Medspa can help.

What is Jawline Contouring?

Jawline contouring is a cosmetic procedure that involves using dermal fillers to improve the shape of the jawline. This process can reduce the appearance of a double chin and make the jaw appear more defined. Sometimes it is necessary to remove excess fat around the jawline by performing additional treatments such as Kybella and/or CoolSculpting before or after getting dermal filler in the jawline. Another treatment that we may need to perform to give you an added benefit is botox in the chin or masseters. Getting botox in your masseter muscles will slim the face. During your complimentary consultation, one of our experts can advise if you are a good candidate for this treatment.

If your face has lost volume, and jowls are prevalent, then adding back the volume with dermal fillers, or lifting the cheeks with fillers, can also give you back some sharpness to the jawline. Facial contouring with fillers can be performed on most any area of the face, including the chin, upper and lower cheeks, and under eye hollows. The injections are quick and easy and come with very little downtime. You can even enjoy results for up to 1-2 years depending on which filler is used.

At Skin Refine Medspa we use a multitude of fillers and your injector will decide which filler to use during your jawline contouring appointment. We use all types of fillers in the Restylane, Juvederm, and RHA family of fillers for our dermal filler services. Prices are per syringe and range from $750 to $900. This price is discounted when multiple syringes are used in one appointment visit. Jawline contouring can require multiple syringes to achieve a contoured look.

What Does Jawline Contouring do?

Jawline contouring is a way to sharpen and enhance the appearance of your jawline. If needed, we can add dermal filler for projection on your chin and on the jawline itself. This will appear to give you a stronger profile and define your face and jaw. Some faces can get an enhanced result by slimming it with botox. If we feel you are a candidate, we can also use botox in the masseter muscles to slim your lower face for a less “square” looking face. The jawline is defined by the area between your ear and chin. If you have a weak or receding jawline, this can make you look older than you are and make your face feel disproportionate or undefined. Jawline contouring helps to even out the contours of your face by giving it more definition.

Jawline contouring also enhances the visibility of your jawline. This makes it easier for others to see where your jaw begins and ends when looking at you from different angles. It can bring out your chin for a stronger profile. This makes your chin appear more prominent so that it balances out with other facial features like eyes, nose, and cheeks when viewed from certain angles, such as from above, below, and especially from the side.

How Long Does Jawline Contouring Last?

The results of jawline contouring with filler, can last anywhere from one to two years, depending on the type of filler used during the procedure. However, the exact length of time your results will last depends on factors like your metabolism, exercise regimen, and how closely you follow your aftercare instructions.

More About Dermal Fillers to Contour the Jaw

Dermal fillers are used to contour the jawline and other areas of the face to give it a more sculpted, defined appearance. Dermal fillers also treat wrinkles, scars, and acne scars by filling in these areas and smoothing them out. The process is quick, with minimal downtime after treatment. Dermal fillers are injected into the dermis layer of your skin using a canula or very fine needle. The filler product is then injected beneath the skin to correct and fill lines and hollow areas and can also add volume and lift. The procedure takes between 15 to 60 minutes, depending on how many syringes of fillers are needed. Sometimes multiple syringes and treatments may be needed to build out a jawline. Expect some redness and swelling and possible bruising which can often be avoided by not consuming blood thinners for a few days prior to the procedure. Do not rub or massage the face in the area treated for around two weeks after and do not perform vigorous exercise for a couple days after. Please avoid getting dental work done for a couple weeks before and after you received filler at Skin Refine Medspa and do not fly for at least one week after your filler appointment as well.
