What is a Myers Cocktail?

The Myers Infusion, also known as the Myers Cocktail, is a form of IV vitamin infusion therapy. It is named after Dr. John Myers who first developed it in the 1970s to treat symptoms of an array of chronic medical conditions.

It is made up of an infusion of vitamins and minerals, including:

  • B-Vitamin Complex: B vitamins are essential to the body and are associated with a range of benefits including bone health, memory loss prevention, and boosting energy levels.
  • Vitamin C: Provides a boost your immunity, as well as aids in overall cell health.
  • Calcium: Aids in building and maintaining strong bones as well as supports heart, muscle, and nerve function.
  • Magnesium: Is essential for better muscle and nerve health, improve immunity, and a healthy cardiovascular system.

It works by increasing the blood concentrations of essential minerals and vitamins to a higher level than what can be achieved by taking oral supplements alone. This can result in a boost in the cells, so that energy can be more efficiently produced in them.

Who Can Benefit from a Myers Cocktail?

The Myers Cocktail has been found to be effective against migraines, fatigue, acute asthma attacks, fibromyalgia symptoms, acute muscle spasms, chronic sinusitis, upper respiratory tract infections, seasonal allergies, and other disorders. Almost anyone can benefit from this treatment for a boost in their overall health and wellbeing. The best way to determine if you are a candidate is to schedule a consultation with one of our medical providers to review your health history.

What to Expect?

During IV vitamin infusion therapy, patients will be seated and an IV will be placed into their arm. The Myers Cocktail mixture will then be delivered over the course of treatment directly into the bloodstream, so vitamins and minerals are absorbed quickly. Infusions can take anywhere from 20 minutes to one hour, depending on the formulation. Many people choose to read, work on their laptop, or spend time on their phone while relaxing and enjoying their IV therapy.

Patients who receive the Myers Cocktail rarely experience any side effects. Those who do may experience slight soreness at the injection site, or light-headedness. Be sure to tell your provider about these symptoms if you experience them during treatment, as the rate at which the mixture enters your body can be lowered.
